Thinking of a getaway to our cottages with your furry best friend? You're in for a treat. Our stunning corner of Devon is surprisingly dog-friendly, boasting everything from scenic walks to pubs where your pup is more than welcome.

Scenic strolls

Cockington Country Park: This idyllic estate is a dog walker's paradise. Meander through woodlands, let your dog splash in streams, and admire the thatched cottages of the historic village. Don't miss the dog-friendly Drum Inn for a post-walk snack.

Berry Head National Nature Reserve: Dramatic clifftop views and trails that wind through wildflower meadows make this a memorable spot for you and your canine companion.

The South West Coastal Path: Torbay boasts a gorgeous stretch of this famous long-distance path. Choose shorter sections for leisurely strolls or longer hikes with breathtaking coastal scenery.

Local Beaches: Many of Torbay's beaches welcome dogs year-round, such as the North beach at Goodrington or Anstey’s Cove. Check signage for any restrictions.

The Guardhouse Cafe: Situated at Berry Head, this cafe boasts beautiful views and a warm welcome for dogs.

Visto Lounge: A relaxed cafe-bar on Torquay seafront with a dog-friendly outdoor terrace.

Venus Cafe: Enjoy a meal or snack with your dog in this dog-friendly café on Broadsands beach, which even has a dog menu offering nutritious and luxurious all natural chews and doggie ice cream.
 

Unique attractions

Babbacombe Model Village: This miniature world is surprisingly dog-friendly! Wander through the tiny streets with your pooch and pose for photos with the miniature buildings. They can’t enter are the inside exhibitions but most of the Model Village is outside.

Dartmouth Steam Railway & River Boats: Dogs are welcome on most trains and river cruises, making it a great way to explore the area.

Greenway House and Garden: While you can’t take your dogs into Agatha Christie's holiday home, they are welcome in the gardens, woodlands, Boathouse, café and shop.
 

Remember...

  • Always check the latest dog policies for attractions and beaches, as they may change seasonally. Some beaches, for example, can only be accessed between October and April.
  • Be a responsible dog owner by keeping your dog on a lead where required and cleaning up after them.
