South Devon Railway, Buckfastleigh
A seven mile former Great Western Railway line dating back to 1872 and now hosting steam trains, which between the small market town of Buckfastleigh and the bustling town of Totnes.

Dartmouth Steam Railway and Riverboat Co
With various departure points, including Torquay and Paignton, travel by steam train, river boat or bus. The Round Robin trip is particularly popular and allows you to travel on all three, starting the round trip from Paington, Totnes, Dartmouth or Torquay.

Greenway, former holiday home of Agatha Christie, near Galmpton, Brixham
Restored by the National Trust, the former holiday home of Devon’s most popular and prolific authors on the banks of the River Dart is well worth a look around for the views, the gardens, the architecture and the story of Christie’s life.

Kent’s Cavern, Torquay

Occombe Farm, Marldon nr Paignton
Run by the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, Occombe is a working farm open to the public and with a focus on learning and community. Various events for all ages are held throughout the year.

Paignton Zoo, Paignton
The biggest and most popular zoo in the region, Paignton Zoo has over 2000 creatures and six animal habitats. It’s easy to get to and has great facilities for children of all ages.

Riverford Farm Field Kitchen, nr Buckfastleigh
Following a self-guided tour of this organic farm famed for its veg box scheme, the reward is lunch at the Field Kitchen where fresh produce is expertly transformed into delicious family-style dishes to share.

Eden Project, St Austell Cornwall
A longer drive at just over an hour, but the Eden Project doesn’t often go without a mention. The famous biomes feature the rainforest, Mediterranean and tropics, all within a former china clay pit in Cornwall.
